Tamanna demands Rs. 1 cr for contract breach

The Madras high court on Monday has ordered M/s Power Soaps Limited, not to use Tamanna. Bhatia’s name or her photographs in their advertisements. The actress had filed a case against the company for using her picture in their promotion materials even after the expiry of their contract.

Justice V Ramasubramanian granted interim stay till June 8, after Tamanna Bhatia filed the petition against the company for unlawfully using her name and photograph for its product promotions. In her suit, the actress has claimed that she entered a contract with the company on October 7, 2008, as their brand ambassador for one year.

The contract was not renewed after one year. Considering her popularity, Tamanna Bhatia was approached by another brand to endorse their product and she signed a deal with the company on January 2010. But later it was brought to her notice that the Power Soaps was carrying her photo in the wrappers of the soap and on their ads without her permission even after the expiry of the contract.

Despite her repeated warnings, the company has not taken corrective measures, which made her to file the suit against the company. She has also demanded Rs. 1 crore in damages for exploiting her popularity.

Udhayanidhi Stalin to conduct a success meet

Chief Minister’s grandson and Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin who is a producer is going to hold a success meet on the 7th May in Chennai.

Udhayanidhi Stalin who has produced films like Kuruvi and Man Madhan Ambu is also now doing the lead role in the film Oru Kal Oru Kannadi directed by M Rajesh. The films Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya, Boss Engira Baskaran, Madrasapattinam and Myna released under the banner Red Giant Movies were super hit.

So in order to celebrate this, Udhayanidhi Stalin has planned to celebrate this in a big way. So he will be holding a function on 7th May at Nehru Indoor Studios, Chennai. Many of the important people of the film industry will be participating in this function. Apart from this the cast and crew of all the four films will be felicitated.

Sampoornam makes a film for his daughter

Sampoornam has produced and directed a film titled Konjum Sirippu Konjum Koppam under the banner Sree Ashtalakshmi Films. ‘Angadi Theru’ Mahesh is donning the lead role in this film. Anusha who is the daughter of Sampoornam is doing the female lead role.

Ganja Karuppu, Sathyan, Vijayakumar, Sayaji Shinde,’ Pailwan’ Ranganathan, Haritha and Babylona are also starring in this film. Sampoornam who has earlier produced the film Superda is now producing and directing this film. Sunil Xavier is composing the music for the lyrics penned by Nivedha, Madhumadhi, Tamizh Amudhan and Madurai Kavi. Sridhar has handled the camera.

Sampoornam while speaking about this film said," I have acquired the rights of the Telugu film Andhrudu which had Gopi Chand in the lead role. Now I am remaking this film with the title Konjum Sirippu Konjum Koppam. Before this I produced Superda and Kalakara Chandru in which my daughter Anusha had acted. Now I am producing and directing this film.

This film is a family story which has romance and action. This film is about young lovers. Whether they sacrifice their love for family sake or they unite is the story of this film. Most of the shooting has taken place in Chennai and Hyderabad. Recently the audio launch of the function was held. We are planning to release this film shortly."

Anjali's feast

Anjali’s next film is Karungaali with director Kalangiyam, who will also be playing the lead role in this film. Kalangiyam has formerly worked with Karthik and Devayani in a film called Nilave Mugam Kattu. He was the one who discovered Anjali and cast her in his film. Unfortunately the film did not see the light of day. But both are confident that Karungaali will take them places.

The Angadi Theru actress is working really hard to make her character authentic. Her diction is also improving as the director is very particular about her Tamil pronunciation. The role, which is that of a married woman, required that she put on a little weight. So the actress feasted on chocolates, ice cream, cookies and a whole lot of sinfully fattening stuff and gained 6 kilos. After all the hard work she has put in, Anjali says that the harder work will begin once she finishes shooting as she has to shed the extra flab!
